Youth Programs
The Okanese First Nation community places a strong emphasis on the well-being of its youth, recognizing that they are the future of the community. As a result, there are a number of youth programs available on Okanese First Nation that provide opportunities for young people to learn, grow, and connect with their cultural heritage.

One of the most important youth programs on Okanese First Nation is the Youth Council. The Youth Council is a group of young people who are elected to represent the interests of the community's youth. The Council organizes events and activities that promote cultural identity, mental health, physical health, and education. They also provide leadership and mentorship opportunities for youth, helping them to develop important life skills and build confidence.

Another important youth program on Okanese First Nation is the Summer Youth Program. This program is designed to provide youth with a safe and supportive environment during the summer months. It offers a variety of activities and workshops that focus on cultural education, physical activity, and creative expression. The Summer Youth Program also provides youth with opportunities to build relationships with their peers and connect with their community.

The community also has a number of sports and recreation programs that are geared towards youth. These programs provide opportunities for young people to participate in a variety of sports, including basketball, volleyball, and hockey. They also offer outdoor activities, such as camping and fishing, that allow youth to connect with nature and develop an appreciation for the environment.

In addition to these programs, the Okanese First Nation also provides support for youth who are struggling with mental health issues. The community has a mental health team that provides counselling and support to youth who are experiencing depression, anxiety, or other mental health challenges. They also provide resources and referrals to outside services as needed.
Through our programs, young people are able to connect with their cultural heritage, build relationships with their peers, and develop the skills and confidence they need to succeed in all areas of their lives.
